Offerings for Residents in White Plains

For Residents there are many things available in the community that they don’t know about. Might be a good idea to search the city’s website for information not just about our government but about what they city offers to its residents.

FREE things and stuff:

City has a Recycle center offering mulch, firewood, wood chips, topsoil, compost and household items. Some are available for delivery but one must make inquiries. Also at the recycle yard one can leave clothing for recycling including shoes, commingled recyclables, paper boxes and other paper products, food scraps, metals and yard debris. Info is online with hours of operation and alternative pickups at one’s home. There is an app for Sanitation that gives one reminders by phone of what is being picked up on any given day by neighborhood.

TILI Shed has been in operation for many years and people in can drop off reusable items they no longer need and people in the community can take items from the shed for free. Returns are acceptable. The shed operates from April to Oct on Wednesdays (2 to 4) and Sat. (9 to 12). See the city website for more information. Books can be donated to White Plains Library and GreenDrop in (locations.gogreendrop.com/ny/whiteplains/greendrop-donation-center-4636.htmlin) North White Plains will take items for charities (tax deductible) that the shed does not take and operates most days all yr long.
